On Monday, July 10th, US prosecutors charged a Moroccan man with the theft of two Bored Ape NFTs and other digital assets through the creation of a fraudulent OpenSea marketplace. The individual managed to steal a staggering $450,000 worth of NFTs and cryptocurrencies. The culprit, Soufiane Oulahyane, a 25-year-old, devised a counterfeit OpenSea NFT website and cunningly deceived victims into divulging their seed phrases, which grant access to their crypto wallets. Consequently, the perpetrator gained illicit entry into the genuine OpenSea marketplace accounts, as confirmed by the Department of justice.
