Data for the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the month of January were issued by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The data was released amid widespread expectations of a major decline in inflation, with the expectation that the Fed will further soften monetary policy in the upcoming months. Inflation in the US decreased to 6.4%, which was better than the predicted 6.2% increase year over year.
